2004 DoC Gold Medal Award

Dr. Daniel Fischer, Supervisory Physicist, Ceramics Division, was presented the Gold Medal for his pioneering development of a first-in-the-world national facility for soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy in support of U.S. materials technology.  His unparalleled measurement capability has enabled breakthroughs in chemical, microelectronic, and data storage industries, and has led to advances in nanotechnology, biomaterials, and superconductors.
