Dr. Daniel
Fischer, Supervisory Physicist, Ceramics Division, was presented the Gold
Medal for his pioneering development of a first-in-the-world national
facility for soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy in support of U.S. materials
technology. His unparalleled measurement capability has enabled
breakthroughs in chemical, microelectronic, and data storage industries, and has
